Tennis Cambodia will be hosting for the first time the ITF Southeast Asian 12 and Under Team Championships at the National Training Center from June 25 to 29 involving four other regional nations, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand,
The teams will be made up of a captain and up to three players for both boys and girls. The format is the same as for Davis Cup groups III and IV, with two singles matches followed by doubles.
As only five out of the 10 invited teams will be showing up, the event has been turned into a round-robin with each country playing the others.
The top two finishers will qualify for the ITF Asian 2018 12 and Under Final Team Championships set for later this year. Similar regional qualifying tournaments have been played in West, South, Central and East Asia.
Representing Cambodia in the boys section will be Rouert Sampin of Battambang, Tith Kimsan (Battambang), and Hadrian Franiatte (Siem Reap), and they will be captained by Lun Petou, the head tennis coach of Battambang.
